I have the same question Report abuse. Details required :. Open the file and the initial read-only password. Modify the password by deleting the password in the text box. What if, at one point, you forget the password? What will happen? Can you have a solution to it?? Download and install a Cocosenor Workbook Unprotect Tuner tool on the computer.
Click on the 'Open button to open the Workbook Unprotect Tuner, import the program by selecting the Excel file. A notification stating that the read-only password has been removed appears after 2 seconds. After doing this, go to where the file was saved, and you will find a file with the same but unprotected and the read-only is disabled. Click OK and open Save As dialog. From then on, the copied Excel file would be not read-only and could be used instead of original one.
It means you have disabled read-only in Excel file. It seems you cannot do any changes on it, but you can save the read-only excel file as another one to remove modify password.
So remove read only in excel file. While your excel file is read only and you know it is because worksheet and workbook structure is protected, it will be easy or difficult to disable read only.
