The spark plug is a device for delivering an electric current from the ignition coil to the combustion chamber to ignite the compressed fuel and air mixture.

The Remington PL-4 spark plug has a threaded metal shell and a porcelain shell with a electrode in the center and a ground electrode. The high voltage from the ignition coil travels through an insulated spark plug wire to the terminal on top of the spark plug, then travels down the electrode threw the porcelain insulator to the ground electrode which is connected to the metal bottom body of the spark plug and is screwed into the cylinder.
